How we publish a specification

and what we will not do

Every parameter on this site carries its own basis. A figure marked Catalogue is the published shipping specification. A figure marked Derived has been normalised — most often a travel that the printed catalogue quotes as a half-range and we publish as a total. A figure marked Not confirmed is one we have not measured on that model.

A parameter we have not measured stays empty

It is never filled with a zero, and a horizontal payload figure is never reused as a vertical one. If you need a number that is not here, the answer is an engineering confirmation, not a guess — ask and we will measure it or tell you we cannot.

Three numbers that are not the same number

Resolution is the smallest commanded increment. Repeatability is how closely the stage returns to a point it has already visited. Positioning accuracy is how close it gets to the point you asked for. Our crossed-roller linear stages repeat to ±0.3 µm and position to 5 µm; quoting the first as if it were the third is the most common specification error in this category, and we would rather lose the comparison than win it that way.
